📌 30 Small Biz Tips
👤 Brand & Trust
Show your face (bio name, pinned intro post or “Meet the Maker” highlight).
Write a real About page - who you are, why you started.
Keep brand consistency (same fonts, colours, tone). This makes your content instantly recognisable.
Share your values like sustainability, local sourcing, charity support or what is important to you.
Share your wins. Media mentions, milestones and customer stories all grow trust.
🛒 Website Basics
Audit your site like a customer - is the product easy to find? Is anything outdated?
Test your site on mobile as most shoppers use their phone so you don’t want this to be clunky.
Keep site speed fast (get rid of heavy files if they’re slowing things down).
Show prices clearly rather than “DM for price” or having customers have to hunt for them.
Make policies human - fair and easy-to-read shipping/returns builds trust.
💳 Checkout & Conversion
Simplify the checkout process and test it yourself to check for any improvements you could make.
Upsell gently. Add “You might also like…” suggestions on the checkout page without being pushy.
Don’t hide shipping costs.
Add order confirmation/follow-up emails to build confidence.
Package with care. A handwritten note or branded sticker goes a long way. I keep all mine.
📱 Social & Funnel
Pin your key 2–3 posts (who you are, what you sell, best product).
Use highlights like mini website tabs (About, Shop, FAQ, Reviews) and get rid of outdated ones.
Make sure every link in your bio actually works and isn’t outdated. This is easy to forget.
Multi image posts mean more engagement and more time on your post for an algorithm boost.
Use Stories daily to stay top-of-mind (polls, BTS, resharing tags).
📨 Customer Relationships
Collect emails - your list is safer than Instagram’s algorithm.
Make it personal. Use names in emails, comments, notes and DMs. I so appreciate this small effort.
Celebrate repeat customers (discounts, thank-you notes).
Ask, don’t assume. Polls, surveys or story questions show you value feedback.
Encourage feedback & reviews - then reshare them.
🌍 Growth & Visibility
Set up a Google Business profile, check it regularly and keep it up to date.
Invest in good product photos or do them yourself keeping them clear, bright and high resolution.
Use local directories and marketplaces where your customers search.
Partner with other small biz accounts for giveaways or shout-outs with a wider audience and reach.
Stay consistent - 3–4 posts a week beats sporadic bursts.
