Instagram Features

It all begins with an idea.

You may know about some of these already, but for those a big greener, you may find some useful tools for getting the most out of Instagram.

1.       Use shoppable product tags in both your posts and your stories if your website supports this.

2.       Use highlight reels for stories. You can access expired stories in your archive and add them to your highlights at any time. You can also add covers to your highlights directly from your camera reel now. You no longer have to add photos to your stories to create highlight covers.

3.       Use the “Archive” feature to remove posts from your feed. These may be for products you no longer want to show, a giveaway that has ended or if a post messes up your pattern of “product, quote, personal photo” for example. Just archive the post rather than deleting it and you can still access it later.

4.       Share your Instagram story to Facebook too. There’s an option in your settings that allows you to set it to share on both social media platforms at once to save you having to share to each separately.

5.       Did you know you can “mute” accounts you follow but don’t love? You don’t have to unfollow to stop seeing their content 😊

6.       You can look back at posts you’ve liked. If you remember seeing something but can’t remember which account it was shared from or where you found it, you can go to your profile, hit the menu > settings > account > posts you’ve liked.

7.       Re-share posts on your stories using the wee paper plane icon under the post or share stories you’ve been tagged in by tapping “Add this to your story” in your DMs where it shows you that someone has mentioned you in their stories. This may be obvious to most but we all have to learn somewhere.
